Effects Menu

The new Effects menu now only includes Wochit’s asset editing options. With any text based tools now available under the Text menu and any other overlays, like Emojis, now under overlays.

This is great for a couple of reasons! One being, that although you can only use one effect at a time, you will now be able to easily combine it with overlays and Text options. For example, it is now possible to include an image animation effect in addition to one of your custom text overlays.

Image Animations
Image Animations allows you to choose the movement of your  image asset from a list of 12 different customizations. Including: no animation, Random, Pan Right, Pan Left, Zoom In, Zoom Out, Pan Up or down.
 To customize an Image Animation:

  2. Click on the Effects option on the top menu
  3. Then click on Image Animation
  4. On the right side, under Input Fields select the Animation Preset you would like to use
  5. Select Full Duration if you would like the animation to occur the entire time the image is on the Timeline
  6. If Swing is selected:  The animation will swing if the asset duration is longer than the animation duration
  7. If Full Duration is not selected, you can adjust the time that the animation occurs by adjusting the Animation Duration field (in seconds)
  8. Hit Apply to preview the new look
  9. Then click Done to return to the Timeline
Pan & Zoom
This overlay allows for the selection of 2 rectangles which specify the start and end of the image movement.
To use the Pan & Zoom tool:
  1. Open the image on the Timeline using the pencil icon
  2. Click on the Effects option on the top menu
  3. Click on the Pan & Zoom option
  4. By default you will see two rectangles on the image marked Start and End, to move the placement of the start or end point, click on one of the rectangles and drag it to the desired position.
  5. To zoom in, you need to resize the rectangle to the desired point on the image. Click on one of the rectangles and then click and drag on the corner handles that appear to resize the box.
  6. Select Full Duration if you would like the animation to occur the entire time the image is on the Timeline
  7. If Swing is selected:  The animation will swing if the asset duration is longer than the animation duration
  8. If Full Duration is not selected, you can adjust the time that the animation occurs by adjusting the Animation Duration field (in seconds)
  9. Hit Apply to preview
  10. Then click Done to return to the Timeline
Please note that switching between aspect ratios will disable the Pan & Zoom selection, and not auto-adjust it, so you will need to set the start and end rectangles again with a new aspect ratio.
Blur

Wochit now allows you to Blur out objects in an image or video using the tool under the Overlays menu. Giving you the ability to adjust the size and the position of the blur and the rate of pixilation from 1 – 100 to get your desired effect. This is a great way to censor an object, or person in your video in addition to giving you another option as a background for your free text.

To use:

  1. Open the image on the Timeline using the pencil icon
  2. Click on the Effects option on the top menu
  3. Then click on Blur
  4. Once opened, you will see an ‘Area 1’ circle appear on your asset, click and drag the object to move it to the area you’d like to blur
  5. Click on the white points surrounding the Area to adjust the size of the blur, with the ability to increase the circumference of the circle or stretch it into an ellipse
  6. On the right side of the asset, under Input Fields you can adjust the Blur Level of the area from 1-100 to achieve your desired effect
  7. Hit Apply to preview the new look
  8. Then click Done to return to the Timeline

Other options for the blur tool include:

  • the ability to invert your selected area, so instead of the selected area being blurred out, the rest of the image will be.
  • The option to ease in or out of the blur to provide a smoother transition onto the asset.
