Create a Video Using a Storyboard

What is a Storyboard?

Storyboards are video templates that establish a guide for the flow of your video. Launch your video starting with a Storyboard, then swap in your own assets, graphics, text and branding to make it your own.

Here’s how it works:

  1. From the Home Screen or Media Library, click on Storyboards in the header of the page (next to Drafts, Produced and Discover).

2. There are several ways to filter your search. Use the search bar to browse available Storyboards. Filter by topic by navigating to the left sidebar and searching for a relevant theme. Above the topic filter is the option to sort by Storyboards made by members of different production lines. Above the gallery on the upper right hand side is the option to filter by aspect ratio.

3. Click on a Storyboard to preview it. Click on Use This Storyboard and select the Production line you’d like to start creating on. Click Create Video to begin editing.

4. You’ll notice that the Timeline is populated with assets from the Storyboard but your Lightbox is empty. Upload or add assets from the Media Library to fill your Lightbox with options to replace the Storyboard content. Once done, return to the Timeline.

5.Next, replace the existing assets on the Timeline with new relevant media. Do this by clicking on an asset from the Lightbox and dragging it above an image or video in the Timeline, when you see ‘Replace Media‘ appear over the asset drop it with your mouse.

6. Now that the Timeline is populated with assets for our new story, add your text on screen to make it our own!

7. Once done, click Preview & Produce.

Create Your Own Storyboard

In addition to the range of Storyboards that Wochit has available for your use, you also have the option to create your own.

To set a draft as a Storyboard, start from the Timeline and follow the below steps:

  1. Edit your video to include text formats, animation, and effects.
  2. Once done, click on the three dot icon, a key for the main menu, in the top right corner of the screen. Then click ‘Set as Storyboard.’

Note: You can undo this at any time by going back to the menu and choosing ‘Turn Off Storyboard.’

  1. From here you will be prompted to choose which production lines you’d like to share the Storyboard with. By default, the storyboard will be shared with your current production line, however, you can also choose to include others you have access to.
  2. You may continue editing at this point.
  3. When you are done editing the video, click ‘Preview and Produce.’ The video will save under your Storyboard tab in the homepage header.

Note: Once a video is set as a storyboard you will not be able to reverse it. To edit a Storyboard, click on the Storyboard you just created, and click ‘Use This Storyboard.’ You will then begin editing as you would a regular video. Once finished, follow steps 2-3 above.

Copy A Storyboard

Duplicating a storyboard can be done easily by clicking on a Storyboard to preview it. Next, choose the Make a Copy link in the Storyboard’s information section to the right.

Edit a Storyboard’s Metadata After Production

Modifying the storyboard metadata — Title, Description or Category Tags — can be done easily by clicking on a storyboard to preview it. Then click the ‘Edit Information’ button on the right hand side of the video.
