Sharing with Slack

With Wochit’s new Slack integration you can now share Wochit videos and previews directly to your team’s channels, making it easy to collaborate and get feedback! This article will take you though how to set up the Slack integration and how to use it to share a draft or a produced video. Let’s get started!
Setting Up Slack for Wochit

The first time you use the Slack integration you will be promoted to connect to your Slack account.
From the Timeline:
  1. Select Preview & Produce from the menu bar
  2. If prompted, enter your Title and select a Thumbnail from the Video Information screen then hit Preview & Produce
  3. Wait for the preview to load, then click Share Your Draft (formerly just Copy Link)
  4. Then, select Share on Slack
  5. A pop-up will appear asking you to enter your Workspace, user login information and to authorize Wochit to integrate with your Slack account, enter your details and click through
If the first time you are using Slack is to share a produced video a similar work flow will appear. You’ll be asked to enter your account detail and prompted to share the video. The produced video Slack option can be found on the Publish menu while previewing.
Sharing a Draft on Slack

An important thing to note before we jump into it, is that the preview link will now always show the latest preview, unlike previously when you had a new preview link for every version of a video. In any case, now that you’ve set up your Wochit account with Slack we can start sharing our videos!
  5. A pop-up will appearing prompting you to select the person or channel you would like to share the video with
  6. Next you’ll be asked to include a short message, this is an opportunity to ask for feedback, collaborate on possible directions, or get an opinion on a specific image you used
  7. Exit out of the project and return to the home screen
  8. If you haven’t already, open up slack
  9. You’ll see your video posted in the direct message or channel you requested.
  10. From here it is easy for you and anyone else to preview the video or jump in and edit it

PLEASE NOTE: If you are sending your video out to be edited be sure to Exit the Story after sending, and remind the editor to exit out of any other work that may be open in Wochit before entering the project.

The Edit option through Slack will open a new tab in Chrome with the latest version of the video — if however, the project is still opened elsewhere changes will not be saved and that would be a real bummer.

Sharing a Produced Video on Slack

Sharing a produced video on Slack is now a new option under the Publish menu when previewing.
From the Home Screen:
  1.  Click on the Produced tab on the top menu
  2. Then select the video you want to share
  3. While previewing, click to view the Publish menu
  4. Select the new Slack option
  5. Follow the prompts on the pop-up to select a channel and add a message before sending your video
  6. Open Slack to see the video! You will notice that there is no option to edit when sharing a produced video but you can open it in Wochit.
Adding Additional Workspaces
You have the option to login to more than one workspace from the Share on Slack Pop-up. When clicking on your ‘team’ or Workspace you’ll see there is a second option to Add Team.
From here you’ll be prompted through typing in the workspace name and your entering your login credentials, follow the steps above under Setting Up Slack for Wochit for a walk through.
